FAQs

What do we teach?

Any and all partner dances!
Everything from East Coast Swing, West Coast Swing, Salsa, Cha-cha, Rumba, Jive, and Lindy Hop to Tango, Waltz, V-Waltz, Quickstep, Foxtrot, Polka, and more.
Do I need experience?
NO! Most of our members joined with zero dance experience, and have since performed on stage and/or earned ribbons in ballroom or swing competitions.
Do I need a partner?
Nope! Our lessons are designed to rotate partners every few minutes. We’ll pair you up when you get here.
Do I need special equipment?

No. You may find certain types of ballroom/swing shoes useful, but they are not required. Plenty of our members dance in regular shoes. or even socks! We only ask that you avoid rubber-soled shoes (they make it difficult to turn) and shoes you’ve just worn in the mud/rain/snow (because nobody wants to step in that!).

What are social dances?

Social dances are a fun way to use what you learn in our classes in the real world. They’re casual, fun and a great way to meet new people. Many are off campus, so we’ll organize carpools to make going to them easier.

Where/when/how can I go social dancing?

In Syracuse, you can go social dancing pretty much any night of the week! Keep in touch with us and we’ll help you find your way to events like Monday night Lindy Hop, Tuesday night Bachata/Kizomba, Wednesday night Argentine Tango, Thursday and Friday West Coast and Sunday ballroom socials. Check out Wednesday or Friday’s Salsa offerings, or join us for a Saturday night in Albany, Ithaca or Rochester. Send us a message and we’ll make sure you find the dancing you know you need in your life.
